Managing Ship Later for Sold Products in Odoo 17 Point of Sale

Utilize the advanced feature of Odoo 17 Point of Sale (POS) to schedule mailing of sold products for later. This functionality proves beneficial in various scenarios, such as when customers prefer to pick up the product at a later time or when additional inventory needs to be ordered before shipping the product.

Consider a scenario where a customer requests shipment of the purchased product to their residence instead of picking it up in person. Upon obtaining the customer's shipping details, the cashier proceeds to mail the item to their address. Following the purchase, the customer leaves the establishment. In such instances, the cashier can leverage the Allow Ship Later feature in Odoo 17 PoS.

The Ship Later feature empowers you to sell items not currently in stock, enhancing sales potential while reducing inventory burdens. Leveraging the Allow Ship Later function enables stores to minimize inventory requirements, allowing customers the flexibility to receive purchases at a later date. This approach may lead to savings on inventory replenishment and storage costs. Moreover, offering customers the choice of delivery timing can enhance satisfaction and foster loyalty.

To employ the ship later feature, ensure that the Allow Ship Later option in the inventory section is enabled within the configuration settings of the Point of Sale (POS) module.

You can assign a warehouse for product pick-up by activating the Allow Ship Later feature. Furthermore, when utilizing the ship later functionality, you can specify the delivery route for the product. Additionally, when employing the ship thereafter option, you can select the shipping policy. Odoo offers two distinct shipping policies: "As soon as possible" and "All products are ready." With "As soon as possible," products will be selected for shipment as soon as they are available, even if the order comprises multiple items. Conversely, when an order specifies "All products are ready," all items will be picked simultaneously.

After configuring these settings, proceed to open the store and proceed with placing an order.

To continue, choose the desired product and customer, and then proceed by clicking the payment button.

After completing the payment, opt for the "Ship Later" choice positioned on the right side of the window, then confirm the purchase.
